A Blast from the Past - Part II

So, as I posted before, I decided to bring out my old High Elves for a game against my friend Karl. Since it was to be a friendly game, I didn't want to take anything too silly, so no Banner of the World Dragon or Book of Hoeth.

An Experiment in Paint Stripping - Fairy Power Spray

photo DSCF0030.jpgThis is the stuff. Not exactly cheap either.

So I have been reliably informed that Fairy Power Spray is a very effective paint remover and it's safe to use on plastic models too, so since I intended to use some of my old Chaos Space Marine models in my ABF2013 army, I thought I'd give it a shot and let all you lovely readers see how I got on.

A Blast from the Past

Since the new High Elf book was released last weekend, I went up to the attic of my parents' house to dig out my old army. I started playing Warhammer way back in 1998 and these were the first army I ever collected and painted. They're a bit battered and probably haven't been on a gaming table since the 6th edition High Elf book, about 8 years ago. I've arranged to play a game with them tomorrow, so I'll take some photos and let you see how they get on.

The SAGA continues

I've had my first opportunity to get my warbands onto the battlefield. Nothing painted yet, I cleaned up and glued the figures together for now. I think I will make some slight modifications before I paint them. With a bit of care, I should be able to open the weapon hands a little so that the spears fit better. The contact area for glue is rather small and the spears are prone to breaking off, so I will use a little green stuff in order to extend the fingers slightly. This will mean the spears will be harder to break off, especially if painted and varnished (I don't varnish plastics, but I do metals). I will put a small piece of green stuff behind the shields too, where it will be hidden but greatly increase the strength of the bond.

RIGGED!!! - A Shack Attack 3 tournament report.

The Hobby Shack in Wicklow town ran their Shack Attack 3 – “RIGGED” tournament on the weekend of 27th-28th April. The Shack is a great venue and has developed a reputation for running excellent events.  I had intended to add some Stormravens and some Space Wolf allies to my Flesh Tearers army, but real life got in the way and I abandoned the Space Wolf contingent. Then work decided to roster me in for the weekend after I had asked for it off, so I put painting the Stormravens to one side. Then the Tuesday before the event I was told the day off was arranged. So it was back to the painting table to try to get three colours on the Stormravens in time for the event. I submitted the following list.
